The Geelong Council has voted to abandon their plans to redevelop the Highton Village and turn the heart and soul of the Highton community into a four-storey shopping centre. 

The strong community campaign ensured that the Councillors listened to the overwhelming views of residents including the 4500+ signatories to the community petition with thousands of conversations held.

It was a pleasure to work with local resident Graham Hobbs on this important community-driven campaign.

This village is part of Highton's neighbourhood character, and I'm pleased to have played my part in protecting it as your local Member. I will continue to fight on behalf of the community against the greed of developers who are seeking to profit at the cost of our local amenity.
